I was up in the San Juans last weekend. Thought I'd try out some long exposure shots with my new A900. This is a 13 minute exposure @ 400 ISO. The moon was about 3/4s full and I was pointing out of American Basin (north). That bright cabin in the center of the shot is right off the Cinnamon Pass road, part of the Alpine Loop.

I should have done it at ISO 200 or 100, but I didn't want to babysit the camera for an hour (30 min exposure and 30 min dark frame) or 2 hours at 100.

Thanks!

I don't know. The A900 uses a CMOS sensor and the A350 is a CCD sensor I think so they might have different electrical and heat characteristics. If nothing else you could try it out in a dark bathroom or something and see.

i'll sure try.
and one more question, does A900 display seconds while taking photo in bulb mode? Ona A350 i have to use mobile phone stopwatch which i find very frustrating.

Nice night shot I know exactly where is that is. As for the babysitting thing you were talking about when I shoot night shots I just pack the camera away after the main shot. From what I can tell there is no advantage of leaving the camera on the tripod for it to take the black frame

No advantage to leaving the camera on the tripod other than being able to recalculate and shoot again from the same location should the exposure be off or an airplane flew though the frame or something. But you are right, the quality of the black frame is no affected by the camera's location.
