I was up in the Crested Butte area last weekend. A little late for the peak of wildflower season but things were still good.

Interesting note: This is with my new A900 and Sigma 24-70/2.8 combination. The Sigma was delivered the night before. :D

Thanks! It was a nice evening. There was even good music on the radio as I drove back down into town after sunset. :D

Sorry to hear that. Crested Butte is pretty nice right now, though I think the wildflowers are about a week past peak now.

that sucks that I can't get down to Crested Butte for the flowers I hope I can get down there for the fall colors this year, but I think I will head up to Shrine Ridge in a day or two and get some photos there, it is close and won't require too much gas, maybe half a tank at the most

That is one heck of an exposure! I am really digging the dynamic range in this

It's one exposure and then some work in photoshop with luminosity masks. Crap, looks like I forgot to spot it though. There's some sensor dust in the sky. :(

How do you like that camera so far? I have heard a lot of good things about it.

I like it a lot. It's very responsive, the AE is more accurate and reliable then the A700 I've been using, and that's no small feat. I'm loving that viewfinder. I've never been happy with DSLR viewfinders in comparison to my old film cameras. The A900 VF is really stellar. I read in reviews that it was good, but it really has to be seen to be appreciated.

The only thing that could possibly be put in a "con" category is the size. It's substantially bigger than the A700, but that's OK. I guess another "con" would be that ACR doesn't do a stellar job on the raw files. I'm going to have to audition other raw developers and see which do better and can be integrated into my workflow with a minimum of fuss.

Oh, and the high resolution really stresses proper technique to get good sharp pictures. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. :D
